Inspiration
Her inspiration to learn and preserve the art of mat weaving began with her personal passion for folk arts and a strong determination to carry on the local wisdom of her community. She started by learning mat weaving from village elders and gradually honed her skills through hands-on practice. What began as learning for enjoyment has developed into a sustainable livelihood, generating income for her family. Mat weaving thus became both a craft and a profession, while also serving as a way to preserve traditional folk art from fading away

Knowledge / Expertise / Special Techniques
She possesses specialized expertise in mat weaving using traditional techniques that rely on pattern memory as the core skill. Each design is complex and unique, and cannot simply be sketched or drafted on paper.
Distinctive Techniques:
        • Memory-based pattern weaving: She can recall and weave patterns such as Chicken Foot, Fishbone, or Double Weave entirely from memory, without needing charts.
        • Two patterns in one mat: Each mat is woven with different designs on the front and back, making every piece highly unique.
        • Color blending of weaving strips: Skilled in arranging colored strips to achieve rhythmic, balanced, and beautiful designs.
        • Traditional hand-weaving: Uses a bamboo mat loom crafted by hand, with no machinery, which enhances the charm and cultural value of each product.

Opinions on the Preservation and Development of Local Textiles
She emphasizes knowledge transfer to villagers, youth, and other interested learners at the Vishalai center. The learning approach focuses on hands-on practice, including material preparation, weaving techniques, mat maintenance, and developing new designs that combine tradition with modern appeal. Mat weaving is therefore not only a craft but also a means to:
        • Create additional income for community members,
        • Preserve local cultural products, and
        • Provide goods that can be sold or used in various community activities
