The Suwannapat Silk Process (Hong Kham Technique) The process begins by carving a design stencil onto a plastic sheet, which is then placed over silk fabric. A natural glue made from grains is spread across the stencil with a scraper, leaving a protective layer of adhesive on the fabric. Once dried, the cloth is dyed using a cold-dye spray technique. The areas covered by glue resist the dye, creating contrasting patterns. Finally, the dried fabric is washed to remove the glue, revealing vibrant, multi-toned silk designs.
